Two English families get together over the weekend to celebrate New Years. At first everything is normal, with all the kids running around and the adults drinking wine. Then one of the kids gets sick and coughs up some nasty mucus. With all the shots of the nearby forest, this bacteria has come from there. Soon, the boy touches something and contaminates another kid, then another. That mucus gets around. In one scene the camera zooms in on it, then we see the microorganisms it contains. The kids start acting up, sending a sled into their parents by making it look like an accident and having these extremely violent thoughts/bloody visions which they want to make a reality. They soon escalate to murder and send an adult down the hill on a sled and have a pitchfork waiting down below, which he hits head-on.
The creepy thing about this is that the adults don't even think the kids are capable of murder until it's too late. The only one who suspects something weird is going on is the sixteen year old daughter. One mother is forced to kill her son. The kids will cry and ask for their parents, luring them into their traps. It isn't like they just have something like rabies--they are able to think and be cunning. But are only the children affected by the bacteria from the woods?
THE CHILDREN is one of the best killer kid movies ever made.
