This is an interesting take on the idea of selling your soul to the devil. The owner of Benson's Health Spa, an aging woman in her 50's, decides to close her business because she can't compete with the newer gyms. But before she can do this she is approached by a mysterious, black garbed man called MR EX, who works for a firm called The Corporation. He promises her that he can not only make her business thrive but make her younger. And he does. The only catch is that she relinquishes her soul-and anyone who joins the gym, by signing a life-long contract, does this as well. Those individuals who are unable to lose weight are eliminated. In come three college newspaper reporters, one of who recently joined the spa. As strange things start to happen and people disappear the trio becomes suspicious and investigates this mysterious organization. They uncover that MR EX isn't even human and that the Corporation is indeed Hell, catering to man's dark side and selfish needs. But how do they stop the evil? With an interesting story written by Dennis Devine and Mike Bowler, great locations and a talented group of actors (Lisa Bowdon, Leonna Small, Dierde West), CLUB DEAD is a very entertaining genre film with enough twists and turns to keep you afixed in front of your television for two hours. Ron Waldron, who potrays MR EX, gives Freddy Krueger a run for his money. Directed by Mike Bowler.
