In the not too distant future the entire Earth is covered in snow and ice. At Colony 7, a group of people have managed to survive by growing their food deep within their bunker ice-buried bunker. However, there's a bad flu bug going around and antibiotics aren't helping--so the infected are given a choice--to walk out onto the ice or be shot. The second in command, Mason (Bill Paxton), takes a bit too much pleasure in this and butts heads with the leader, Briggs (Laurence Fishburne), and the main character, Sam (Kevin Zegers). They get a call from Colony 5, which is over a day's hike away. Once they get there it's empty--until they come to a big underground room and find all the dismembered, slain bodies--and the invaders who are responsible. The cannibals are very much like those Reavers seen in FIREFLY/SERENITY. And it reminded me a bit of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. No the best movie, not the worst movie, not the most memorable, either. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic movies this isn't a complete waste of time.
