First, let me say that I'm a huge fan of Mark Pirro's work, from POLISH VAMPIRE IN BURBANK to NUDIST COLONY OF THE LIVING DEAD. But his most recent film didn't do it for me. His latest comedy is a surprising non-genre film dealing with racial issues-or should I say stereotypical racial issues. Melanie Welles, a young black woman dating a young white man, starts doubting her relationship when her black friend is dumped by HER white boyfriend. One morning she awakens to find herself transformed into a 'beautiful' blonde woman with an extremely annoying voice. Anxious to see if her boyfriend will dump her for this 'bombshell' she starts to visit him, intentionally placing him in what could be considered compromising situations. But because all this deceit is done in such a nasty way it makes her a very unlikeable protagonist. This, compiled with the fact that not for one minute do you believe that the black girl and this blonde are supposed to be the same person-tends to makes the message of this movie very trite. COLOR BLINDED is indeed completely superficial.
