If you're a fan of giant monster movies you need to see this. As far as the advertising and trailer, this seems as if it's a silly comedy when it's really something quite different. Gloria (Anne Hathaway) is a party girl who moves back to her hometown after her boyfriend breaks up with her in New York. She stays at the empty house her parents still own and meets up with a childhood friend, Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), who hires her to work in his bar. At first everything is good and they seem like they'll be good friends. Then, there are reports of a giant monster materializing in South Korea, which blows Gloria's mind. She's further freaked out when she comes to the conclusion that the monster is mimicking her movies every day at a certain time. She shares this with Oscar—and soon her monster is joined by a giant robot that he controls. Their personal relationship shifts to the worst and they end up battling each other, both emotionally and as giant monsters. There's also a plausible (in the universe of Ultraman ) explanation of why this is all happening to both of them. This isn't exactly GODZILLA or KONG, but it is a different take on the giant monster genre that works. Highly recommended.
