Although the animation and characters are very much like THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, this Tim Burton produced movie is nowhere near as entertaining. A young man, who is to be married to a woman he's only just met, fumbles up at the wedding rehearsal so goes out in the nearby woods and says his lines. By accident he puts the ring on the potruding hand of a corpse (which looks like wood), says his vows-and she comes to life. The rest of the movie is him deciding on whether to stay with his ripe bride or marry the woman he's been set up with-who is realizes he loves. The musical numbers that take place in the 'underworld' are entertaining, particularly the singing skeletons, and the maggot 'side-kick' that lives inside the Corpse Bride's head is hilarious-and sounds like Peter Lorre.I think the movie's biggest problem is that the plot can be summed up in one line-and most of the movie feels like it's being padded, though the entire running time is 75 minutes!
