What a cool ass name for a genre film Cowboys and Aliens I mean if you name your movie that you better bring it am I right. Who better to bring it than Jon Favreau the hit director of Iron Man and the reason my older brother walked around saying that's money in the mid 90's (swingers). The big stunner here is Harrison Ford is back in action I mean what could go wrong, well lots went wrong for me. Ok we got Han solo and James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Olivia Wilde heading this thing all good actors in my opinion. The movie opened up with a awesome bloody introduction to Craigs character and throughout all the sets look amazing and western. Now I'm not spoiling anything by telling you there are aliens in this movie its in the title. Whoever designed the aliens and the alien ships I thought did a fantastic job even though the concept is far fetched, the aliens feel like rugged outdoorsmen fighting for their survival. I know Jon can direct action and comedy and story but I never bought in fully to this movies story. This cowboy saga is a long one a little over 2 hours and I felt like parts really stalled when they could have kept ramping the action and arc up. No one was more excited to see Harrison back in a genre role but it fell real flat to me very pushed and unbelievable. Olivia Wilde looked very lost and very clean among a cast of rugged cowboys, and I do mean that she always had perfect shiny face maybe one dirt line here or there. The sole saving grace to me was Daniel Craig he is awesome he looks the part and acts the part I think the lone wolf lost rebel roles fit him very well. On special effects and sets like I said earlier they are not a let down they had millions to make this movie and it shows. I loved the beginning I dug parts of the climax, but as a whole this movie lacked a lot of pacing by that I mean in the middle it slows to sloth mode. Besides amazing aliens and Daniel Craigs performance it did not live up to the hype for me. Harrison has an asshole son who you meet early in the film who is instantly annoying, but Harrison gives man advice to a little boy not his asshole son see where im going its flat. Rent it on Blu-ray drink your favorite beverage and decide for yourself.
