This pre-quel to CUBE is the goriest of the three CUBE movies. The film starts off with one of the worst ways a person can go, via an acid shower. Nasty. But instead of staying within the various cubes the audience is introduced to the workers whose job is to observe and document the survivors within the maze. A sense of dread is created as they realize that they are little better off than those people they are watching. They exist in a strange, future society, where everything seems to be an experiment. One of the two men falls for a woman he's been observing and goes so far as to enter the cubes and try to rescue her. After he finds her and looks for a way to escape, he comes across the dead bodies of former co-workers and realizes that this probably would have been his fate anyway. The ending, as with much of the movie, is a downer. Yet, it ties in well with a character from the first CUBE movie, so there is a sense of continuity between the two. If you enjoyed the other two parts then you have to see this. It's different enough from the other two so that it's not redundant.
