OK, I honestly can say I didn't go in with the highest hopes for DF. I mean it all boils down to a fuckin' killer tooth fairy for crying out loud. Well, it wasn't that bad. Actually, I enjoyed it for the most part despite some its problems. The lil' tooth fairy Grim's fairy tale type intro was a pretty good start really and I dug the storyline afterwards. Hell, if you ask me that one stoplight town deserved everything it got. She should have used some lineman's pliers to get a good pull for those teeths too! The sound FX rocked on this thing (probably won't be as cool when it hits video 2 months after the theatrical release), a crazy combination of horrid screams and shrieks. The shit was making me laugh it was so cool. I really enjoyed seeing the fairy/ghost made out as a mean bitch that was constantly picking people off whenever they got out of the light. Although, I wasn't too sure about the rules for that really. I mean supposedly she was confined to the dark and anyone in the light shine was fine. But, there were sometimes when this little rule was iffy at best. Oh well, I pushed the loopholes aside and enjoyed the hour and twenty-five minutes none the less. There was no blood, tits, or anything scary really, but it did have a lot of tension and was fast paced. Like I tried to say earlier, it was cool to see an evil ghost for a change and one that could haul ass! The final peek we get of her is pretty tasty as she looks like the Cropsy Maniac's fuckin' mom. This was about as good as I could have hoped for, though I really had no hopes going in. Nothing groundbreaking or trend setting, Darkness Falls may be a small glimmer of light for horror fans in 2003. Perhaps we'll get a few more good attempts this year, especially that House that's coming soon! Still, the tooth fairy bit is kinda nasty. I mean who would wanna go collect snot nosed brats teeths and leave 'em bread in place. Sounds more like some sorta fairy punishment if you ask me. No offense to any fairies reading this of course, just sounds like a shitty gig. Guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do, not exactly a lucrative job market out there for fairies I suppose, but how do you make a living giving away dough for teeth? Any who, DF isn't as bad as most people are bashing, nor is it as good as the real 'critics' (who get paid by the studios) are complimenting.
