This sequel to DAYWATCH provokes the same response from me as the first movie. It's a beautiful looking movie with great special effects and an interesting idea - but it comes off flat and empty and doesn't really amount to much. Anton, who is on the side of good, is part of THE NIGHT WATCH, who keep those 'Dark Ones' in check. The DAYWATCH, conversely, are those on the side of evil who make sure the 'good' don't get away with stuff. Anton is training a woman, Svetlana, who will be a powerful witch, whom he is also dating. He doesn't want to get too emotionally close to her, because of his past. Anton's son, Yegor, is one of the Dark Ones (revealed in the first movie), something he has a hard time reconciling. Everyone is searching for a piece of magic chalk, 'The Chalk of Destiny', which can grant wishes and even reverse time itself. What is ultimately done with this artifact is predictable.
