Clowns are creepy and dead clowns creepier, but who really wants to see yet another killer clown movie? Yes, there are actually enough of these to officially be considered a horror sub-genre. Anyway, the premise here is that clowns killed sixty-years before, when their train went off the tracks and plunged into the ocean, are returning to get their vengeance upon the townsfolk. Actress Debbie Rochon is throughout the movie as a mute woman hiding in her house. And there's a crippled guy in a wheelchair who must fend off the zombie while wheeling around. There's also a ton of stock footage of hurricanes, as the movie takes place during such a storm.
I think THE FOG is the inspiration here, but the low-budget and lame special effects are far too distracting. The clowns' faces are all rotted away but their costumes look new. There are even some dead clowns with red rubber noses - but how are those staying put since they have no noses on their skull-heads? There were so many shots of the oversized clown shoes that I suspect that a good deal of the budget went towards purchasing those shoes (and renting those clown costumes).
DEAD CLOWNS is a session I could have done without.
