The zombie movie is the simplest film a low-budget filmmaker can construct. Anyone with green face-paint and fake blood can churn one out over a weekend (Hell - look at Zombie Lake); unfortunately this seems to happen every weekend (Hell - look at Zombie Lake Part CXIV). But fortunately Dead Life rises above with it's entertaining 'zombies invade a small town' motif. Beginning with the template used 211,743 times before: a small group of bickering people are trapped in a farmhouse while slow, shuffling zombies (who can only die by blows to the head) lay siege upon them. Like a no-budget combination of Night and Return Of The Living Dead, a group of slackers and one singled-out asshole (whom everyone wants to die as soon as they meet him) must band together to protect themselves from the zombie scourge while the world around them is going insane; no channels work on either the television or radio and there seems to be no other survivors in town, or abroad. Dead Life contains oodles of flesh-eating, with particular regions (i.e.: breasts and genitalia) getting more attention than usual. Although the film crew's inexperience is noticeable on several occasions, the awkward or unbelievable lines and actions only make the film that much more entertaining...
