A plague in Africa causes the dead to rise as zombies. A caucasian air-force engineer, Brian Murphy, is the only survivor when his plane crashes off the coast. Now, he's trapped there and has to somehow survive. The other main character is Sergeant Daniel Dembele, who abandons his post to return to his village. He finds everyone there dead or as zombies--and his son is missing. He wants to find his son. The two join forces when they meet up and eventually end at an isolated compound, filled with human survivors.
Yes, this may be the first zombie movie shot in Africa, but it adds absolutely nothing to this overflooded sub-genre. It reminded me of an Italian zombie movie more than anything else (like ZOMBIE 4 or 5?). Oh, there are some gruesome special effects but that's only ten minutes of this nearly two hour movie. And Rob Freeman, as Brian Murphy, is perhaps the worst actor I've seen in any movie. I kept on laughing every time he raised his eyebrows, rolled his eyes or delivered every line in the exact same monotone. THE DEAD sucked.
