This new show on Syfy Channel place thirty-years in the future, in which eight different alien races have terraformed and colonized Earth. They came to Earth after fleeing their dying planets and were met with resistance by the humans--and a war started, which killed a lot on both sides. Now, there is a treaty and aliens and humans are working together to exist on this new, strange planet.
One of the main characters is ex-soldier Jeb Nolan, who has an adopted alien daughter. He returns to his home town of St. Louis. The only recognizable landmark is one of the arches. The rest of the original city is buried deep under the terraformed earth. There's also the new mayor, Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz of Dexter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) ad her sister, Kenya (Mia Kirschner of Wolf Lake), who is a prostitute who runs the local brothel. The main alien character is Datak Tarr, a white humanoid who wants more power and eventually runs for Mayor. His son marries the daughter of Rafe McCawley (Graham Green, also of Wolf Lake), who runs the lucrative mine. There are weird animals as well, from things that look like a cross between a wolf and spider to giant hive insects.
The characters are stereotypical, the dialogue stilted and the overall story line is too vague for it to be interesting. I don't care about any of the characters. Which is too bad as I was expecting something along the lines of Farscape...
