It's some years after the zombie apocalypse. Through a voice-over, and a montage of a child's crayon drawings, it's explained that those born after the ZA are immune to the undead. The zombies leave them alone. It has a fairy-tale feel, as the story ends with the children going into the ocean with a giant octopus friend. A seven-year old girl wanders the desolation and ruined city, eating worms for food. In flashbacks we see that she and her mother were kept prisoner in a facility that was studying them. All the "new" children have these weird gill-like growths on their necks. Zombies attack, the mother is bitten and turns into a zombie--thought still protects her daughter. The girl encounters more children like herself and they make their way to the sea--where the story she told becomes reality. This is one of the more unique zombie movies I've seen in a while--and has an H.P. Lovecraft vibe to it. Recommended.
