This prequel to the Stephen King mini-series ROSE RED is a much better movie because it's not so ambiguous. Within an hour and a half we're shown how Ellen marries the rich Rimbauer and becomes corrupted by his sexual needs and fantasies. After a trip to Africa they return home to Seattle and start building the mansion, Rose Red. But the abode starts reflecting Ellen's feelings, particularly about her unfaithful husband, who is having affairs with just about any woman he comes in contact with. And these woman start disappearing in the house, never to be seen again. Ellen has two children, a boy and a girl, but the girl has this horribly deformed arm that looks like a dried out chicken wing. She blames her husband's infidelity for this. Eventually the house's power grows and takes the daughter. And Ellen keeps on doing what the house wants, adding new rooms, continuing its construction. In the end her husband is thrown out a tower window by the spirits and she remains, probably the happiest she's been since before her wedding.
