This is a decent adaptation of the Marvel Comic's character, with Benedict Cumberbatch portraying the doctor and Tilda Swinton as "The Ancient One". Dr Strange is a narcissistic surgeon who gets into a car crash and maims his hands. He can no longer operate. He buries himself in research and comes across a case where a paralyzed man regained the ability to walk. When he tracks the guy down and confronts him the man tells him that what he's seeking is in Nepal. So he goes there and encounters "The Ancient One", who can show him how to heal his body by healing his soul. Along the way he gains mystical abilities. Things speed up when he's able to open an amulet, the "Eye of Agamotto. Also, there's a former student who has turned evil and wants to bring forth Dormammu, an dark presence from another realm. Doctor Strange has to ultimately battle him and protect the Earth.
The visuals are great, especially for a 3-D film, up there with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Also, I like the bit where his red Cloak seems to adopt him and that the Eye of Agamotto is really an Infinity Stone (other stones have appeared in THOR and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), which ties it into future Marvel character cross-overs. This was a fun movie. Recommended.
