DREAMLAND is a computer animated Doctor Who episode, a bit of a departure from the regular show. It begins with a flying saucer crashing in the desert in the 1940's and a road sign says "Welcome to Roswell, New Mexico". Eleven years later The Doctor appears at a roadside diner to get some chili. There, displayed on the counter, is a piece of alien technology from the Roswell crash. He accidently activates it with his sonic screwdriver. Then, a "man in black" enters and demands he hands over the gizmo. The Doctor, the waitress and a customer, Jimmy Stalkingwolf, flee and encounter a ten-foot tall bug alien called a Viperox. They get away from it only to be captured by the U.S. Military and taken to Area 51, aka "Dreamland". It's run by gruff Colonel Stark, who wants to erase their memories of the alien encounter by exposing them to amnesia gas. The Doctor manages to break them free and they try to escape through the ventilation shafts. They find themselves in another room where a depressed looking Gray alien is prisoner. It's revealed that the Colonel is working with the Viperox--and the bugs want something that the Gray alien had created. It's up to The Doctor to sort everything out.
Although I didn't really like the computer animation (everyone looks too stiff and block-like), the advantage of it is that they are able to do an episode that is bigger in scope than the average show, with numerous spaceships, helicopters, explosions and various aliens that wouldn't have been done justice with a costume.
