The Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith are sent back in time by the Time Lords to try to prevent the birth of the Dalek's, those malevolent machine/mutants who want to exterminate all life. They appear on the planet Skaro to find a war still going on between the Kaleds, the "norms" and the Thals, their enemies. Both sides look human in form, except for the ancient, sinister doctor Davros, who has a cybernetic third eye in the middle of his forehead and scoots around in an electric chair tat looks like half a Dalek. As soon as we're introduced this character you know exactly where the Daleks got their "voice" and personality.
Tom Baker is one of my favorite incarnations of the Doctor and although these sets and effects from the mid-70's are cheap the storylines hold up and are extremely entertaining. It's also interesting viewing the recent episodes of SARAH JANE ADVENTURES on tv and seeing this character, his female sidekick, over 34 years ago in the same scenarios.
