In Detroit three young thieves decide to rob the house of a blind war Vet (Stephen Lang). There's Rocky (Jane Levy), her boyfriend Money, and Alex (Dylan Minnette of GOOSEBUMPS), who is secretly in love her. She wants to flee to Calfornia and start a new life. But Alex is reluctant to steal such a large amount of money because he does't want to go to prison for years. There's also the fact that he's been stealing from houses that use his father's security company-so he gets the keys to unlock the homes and knows the alarms. However, he agrees with Rocky and Money's plan, which is breaking into the guy's house while he's there and searching for his hidden stash of cash. The story they've heard is that he received a huge settlement from when his daughter was killed in a car accident and that he keeps the cash in the house.
At first everything goes as planned. They drug the guy's guard dog, figure out a way to get into the house, which has new locks, and seem to knock the owner unconscious with some sleeping gas. But this is no helpless blind guy, which they soon find out...
The first hour is suspenseful and Lang is extremely threatening as the Blind Man. You don't want to mess with this guy. In fact, this film does for blind people what THE VISIT did for old people. The last half-hour, though, is brutal, so be prepared. DON'T BREATHE is one of the best horror flicks of 2016.
