This is a better-than-average slasher/killer clown movie that gets off to a slam start. There's little explanation of why he returns, other than he was tormented as a teenager, when he was killed in a fire, and one of the people he's out to kill has the same birthday as him. This is babe Mackenzie (Leighton Meester of SURFACE), who is the heroine of the story. It turns out that her mother and her mother's high school friends are responsible for the clown's death.
The killings are gruesome and the clown makes a creepy enough villain, though I think the last thing the world needs is one more killer clown movie. While it doesn't have a lot of originality it does have a lot of energy. DRIVE THRU is a cross between NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.
