Karen Addams is a news reporter writing a story on an old man who doesn't want to leave the old theatre he owns. He's somewhat well known in the area because he allegedly killed someone and got away with it. He keeps on talking about a doorway that must not be opened. This doorway opens every twenty-five years and brings forth...something.Karen soon meets Greg Johnson, an accountant who is said on the television news to have mass murdered people in his office. Yet Greg insists that he didn't do it-that someone who looks like him is framing him for the murder. She believes him, primarily because she finds out that there is someone who is impersonating her at work-and who has been living in her apartment when she isn't there.It turns out that the 'doorway' is a portal to a parallel Earth and duplicates of people sometimes come through. Karen's double has her opposite personality-and has no compunction about killing people who get in her way. DUPLICATES is a good, intriguing sci-fi/horror movie that reminded me a lot of the television movie THE LAKE from a few years back.
