During the first few minutes of the movie we see people falling asleep while driving cars, trains and planes. There are lots of crashes. An American pilot lands in England to find everyone is dead. He goes to a hotel and is joined by two survivors, then two more. The thing they all have in common is that they were all breathing filtered air when the attack happened, so whatever dropped everyone was probably a gas. As they are all talking about this they are drinking and smoking like there's no tomorrow. When one of the women sees two spacesuit clad figures walking down the street she goes out to greet them. When they turn to face her they shoot her and walk away. But she soon returns to life as a zombie and they have to kill her again. When they run down one of the spacesuits they discover they are robots.
Soon, a younger couple appear and the girl is pregnant. They were protected in a nearby air-raid shelter, which they all use as a base of operations. Things start looking up when they figure out that the robots--and the zombies--are being controlled by radio waves. So they knock down the nearby radio tower and the creatures stop working. They destroy the tower just before the zombies reach the young woman and her newborn baby. In the end the humans go to the airport and take off in a plane. All of this happens in 62 minutes.
