The end of Season One left Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) with the memories of four years of time in the future that really didn't happen. In this future he was married to, and expecting a child with, Allison Blake. Now he has to come to terms with that....but not for long, as Henry Deacon (Joe Morton, BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET) erases these memories from him. Deacon, the only other person aware of this future reality, chooses to remember everything because it involved the death of his girlfriend. I think it would have been far more interesting to have the sheriff try to reconcile these two ‘realities" throughout the season.
Instead, most of the season's plotline revolves around Allison's autistic son, who has absorbed energy from a mysterious object they kept at the lab. Most of what happens with the boy is off screen and talked about by the other characters, so we don't get a good sense of him as a person.
The love-interest story between the female deputy and Jim Taggart (Matt Frewer) is also dropped abruptly, though they do tie up the Beverly Barlowe/double agent plotline begun in the first season.
Overall, the second year is disappointing compared to the first season.
