Everyone probably remembers this film from its unique training sequences of Chen Ken Tai fighting that metal training dummy filled with steel balls, always trying to pull out the right ball to figure out his opponent's week point. I always loved that shit! The dummy was kind of gold looking and had little grooves going all throughout the outside of its body. He'd drop a bunch of these special balls in and punch and kick the shit out of it as the balls traveled from the top of the head to all other parts of the body, hoping to hit just the right spot. Hell, it almost works to, unfortunately his opponent has learned how to move his weak spot around through the day as the sun moves. Now that's a bitch, you spend all this time training and making this thing to help you and it's useless in the end. The acrobat turned Shaolin avenger gets his ass kicked twice, killed the second time, leaving his son to take up the fight. Luckily, the son has learned both his father's tiger style and his mom's white crane kung-fu and with a little luck and training he succeeds where dear old dad failed. This is another classic 70's Shaw Bros. film that helped establish a tradition of fine revenge films with cool training scenes. Lo Lieh gets special mention here for playing the awesome white-haired villain Pai Mei, a role he also played in Fists of the White Lotus. The awesome story will hook anyone and the fights are all cool. This is recommended viewing!
