This DVD features the winning horror shorts from a contest Fangoria magazine had a while back. The best one, THE HITCH, is about a serial killer and the worst about a guy who makes a pet out of his sliced off finger. There's even a zombie musical, though not great, is a unique twist on that sub-genre. It's interesting but mostly forgettable. The DVD is 'hosted' by Rob Zombie (him on the menu list). He also introduces two interviews that are also included on the disc, an interview with Clive Barker and and interview with Stan Winston. Is it me or do these interviews really seem out of place on a DVD devoted to short independent horror movies? And what the hell happened to Clive Barker-he's aged thirty years in the past decade and his voice is like Jack Klugman's after the throat cancer. I had briefly met him a dozen years back at his art exhibition in NYC-and now wouldn't have recognized him. And Stan Winston goes on about how he wanted to be an actor when he first moved to Hollywood... who cares. I would much rather have seen interviews with the individual filmmakers of the shorts.
