This is supposedly Showtime's MASTERS OF HORROR, renamed and now on NBC. What it has much more in common with is the most recent incarnation of THE TWILIGHT ZONE (the one hosted by Forest Whitaker), with all-too familiar, predictable stories.
The first one, inspired by FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, has a group of bank robbers taking refuge at an old Fort where a group of sisters are feeding a vampire so he won't go out into the world. The vampire is cool looking, sort of like Max Shreck's NOSTERATU. The second story has Eric Roberts as an ex-policeman now security guy whose bad deeds catch up to him in an old, haunted house. And the third has a good family guy (Colin Ferguson of EUREKA) switching bodies with a ruthless serial killer. Will he be able to return to his own body before the killer slays his family? Of course, we already know the ending. The worst episode (directed by John Landis), concerns a woman who gets a mysterious note from an anonymous woman on her wedding day, which states that "The person you are marrying is a serial killer". But was the note intended for HER?
FEAR ITSELF is nothing to get excited about.
