Beautifully shot, well acted period movie about Jack the Ripper--but seems too familiar because the story has been told a zillion times already. Johnny Dep is the opium addicted detective, Heather Graham is Mary, the prostitute with a big heart who is next on the Ripper's list. Although most of the killing scenes are mostly off-scene they are very intense. If you're not expecting a new twist on the Jack the Ripper story then you should enjoy this.
