This speculative Animal Planet series presents us with future environments and the animals which inhabit them. In this first show we go to 5 million years in the future, when France is covered by glaciers. There are giant rats that look like mini-bison and a saber-toothed predator that is descended from the wolverine. The Mediterranean is dried up and is a huge salt desert, inhabited by strange lizards and peccary type animals that live in rock outcrops that used to be islands. In the Midwest, now a desert, giant bats hunt for food while birds have prospered underground like moles. This is a cool series and the computer animation used to bring these fantastic creatures to life is well done. My only problem, and this is obviously a budget limitation, is that the re-use too many of the same shots but have different voice-over over it. It made it seem to repetitive at times.Other than that slight irritation it's one of the more interesting shows on television.
