Of course, THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION is not nearly as good as I remembered, boasting lame special effects and even worse acting, yet it still retains its B-movie charm. The story concerns a small black hole that has crashed to Earth, bringing with it geodes that have these tarantulas inside them. The spiders quickly grow to enormous size, first killing cattle and then humans.
When the best actor in the movie is Alan Hale, Jr (The Skipper on GILLIGAN'S ISLAND) you know you're not in for Academy Award winning performances. Also, the lead actor who is supposed to be from N.A.S.A. looks just like Ron Jeremy (I noticed this because Jeremy was in CREEPIES, a recent giant spider movie). Nonetheless, if you want to see crowds of people running away from a car disguised as a giant spider, this is your movie.
Directed by Bill Rebane (The Alpha Incident, Rana)
