A blonde woman runs frantically through the woods to a cabin. But before she can unlock the door a three-clawed hand swipes down, killing her. Then, a local farmer is driving along in his truck when he hits someTHING with his car. A scientist in a white lab coat explains everything about El Chupacabra, The Goat Sucker, and states that the mysterious creature is real. This turns out to be a promotional commercial for Hidden Valley Hiking Tours. We then go to a group of hikers waiting for their tour guide to show up. But she isn't going to show up since she was the girl slaughtered at the beginning of the movie. So another woman takes up the mantle and the odd group of sightseers venture into the forest. Meanwhile, a girl named Cassie is obsessed with finding and killing the Chupacabra since she believes it killed her boyfriend. Everyone else, including her worried father, says it was a bear but she doesn't believe that one bit.
On the hiking tour a young guy named Alan is dismayed to see that his girlfriend Rhonda also showed up. Although she's the best looking cast member he rejects her. Instead, he has sex with an older and much more unattractive lady. To try to make Alan jealous Rhonda cuddles up with the nerdy, overweight Eugene, who has secretly had a crush on her. This is a mistake since Eugene goes to great lengths to eliminate the competition.
The hikers lose their guide and get lost in the woods only to stumble upon that farmer we saw at the beginning of the movie. He's not too keen in helping them out and tells them how to get back to the hiking trail. You see, he has a secret. In fact, the Goatsucker turns out to be something totally unexpected.
GOATSUCKER is an entertaining micro-budget horror movie with quirky characters, just enough gore and an original explanation of El Chupacabra. Recommended.
