After she dies in a freak accident involving a shopping cart and a car Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristin Bell) finds herself in "The Good Place" by mistake. You see, someone else with her exact name name died on the same day. There are other characters she eventually becomes friends with-Chidi, who is supposed to be her soul mate, Tahani, an Indian woman and Jianyu, a monk who may be in similar predicament as Eleanor. Ted Danson is Michael, an otherworldly being who is the architect of this specific community. Almost immediately, weird things begin to happen to the community, from an invasion of giant insects to the earth opening up and swallowing a few of the citizens. And Eleanor thinks it may have to do something with her not belonging there. So she convinces Chidi to teach her about ethics-and she begins to become a better person, at least with the main people she interacts with. Eventually this all seems to catch up with her when it's revealed she's there because of a mix-up and agents from Hell show up to claim her.
Although this is a comedy, it's definitely a dark comedy, and the huge revelation in the last episode succeeds in making the entire series much better than I originally thought. Highly recommended.
