A waitress, working the midnight shift, is approached by a dark stranger and is asked to marry him. On a whim she agrees-and is taken to his large house Upstate where she meets an assortment of strange characters. She also has these dreams of being buried alive. These nightmares become true when she discovers that her husband, who also happens to be a mortician, is doing odd things with the bodies. The townsfolk are into necrophilia and there's also some zombie reanimation going on. She tries to escape but everyone she runs into seems to be in on the secret. My favorite scenes are when she is underground and we see all the mortician's previous victims in various stages of decomposition, the scene when the zombies chase her in the graveyard and the scene where a zombie's flesh falls off his face while he's pursuing her car on his motorcycle. She movie should have ended with her being captured and embalmed, screaming all the time. Instead, it goes back to the first scene, in the diner-and we realize this was all a dream or a premonition. She shoots the man instead of marrying him. Then, before the end credits there's this totally inappropriate ending, with freeze frames of each of the characters and a omniscient voiceover explaining what happened to each one. And it's done to be funny! What were the filmmakers thinking is all I ask!
