Hannibal the cannibal is on the loose and roaming around America. This time he is not in a cage helping out Agent Starling, but seeking her help to survive the vengeance of one of his past victims. A past victim (played by Gary Oldman) who's face he fed to a dog.... yeh! This flick is technically a sequel to Silence of the Lambs, but did not really feel like one. Very differently done. Anthony Hopkins reprises his role as Hannibal Lecter brilliantly. The gore levels were up quite a bit in this one. I heard people speak of it and they said it was so nasty they had to leave the theaters. I didn't feel it was that bad (I could show them some flicks that are), but the gore was a plenty. Lots of intellectual aspects in this one is what made it stand out to me, even Ray Liotta was given some food for thought, so to speak. Well written, well acted and decent gore effects. If you liked Silence of the Lambs, I recommend this one. Gorehounds who didn't like the first will probably still like this one. Great rental.
