The third and final season of this DARK SHADOWS inspired Netflix show succeeds in wrapping everything up, which means that the bulk of the cast is killed off in gruesome ways. While this didn't surprise me, what did is that they made the Frankenstein Monster-like Shelley (Madeleine Martin) and mad scientist Dr. Johann Pryce likable. They're the best characters and change the most. The ones that stay the same, particularly the evil matriarch Olivia (Famke Janssen) and Roman, get what's coming to them. There's also a side story about an amphibious creature that wants to kill off the vampires and werewolves, so that his kind can exclusively dine on humanity. It seems as if nothing can kill him-but an aspect of the vampires can. He's also kidnapped Roman's daughter, Nadia-and there's a big plan to get her back.
While, story-wise, this is the weakest season, particularly in that Peter, the main character from the first season, is basically a one-dimensional afterthought here, it does succeed in wrapping up the series in a satisfactory way.
