Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell of Southland) is driving across country when he encounters John Ryder (Rutger Hauer), nearly indestructible serial killer that not only pursues him but frames him for murder. Just when you think Halsey's troubles will end, such as when Ryder is apprehended by the police, things get even worse for him. For example, he meets a girl, Nash (Jennifer Jason Leigh) along the way and something truly terrible happens to her. No one is safe.
I remember when this movie was first released in theaterss and reviewed by Siskel & Ebert on their show At the Movies, where they reamed screenwriter Eric Red a new asshole, which made me want to see the movie even more. Don't bother ever watching the lame remake, watch this original, because it is original--and of of the best serial killer movies you'll ever see.
