A rich German guy brings his wife, for the first time, to his family's castle in Germany, where she finds a woman's body in an iron maiden torture device. She faints and wakes up in bed, but neither the doctor or her husband believe her. She knows she wasn't hallucinating, so she investigates the museum that's a part of the castle and finds some underground passages. This is where 'The Punisher' is, a character from history who tortured and killed women who have sinned. It's possible this killer may be her husband. Or it could be the museum's live-in caretaker, Christopher Lee, whose face was disfigured years before in WWII. The movie does keep you guessing and I thought it interesting that the villain looks like that of DR. PHIBES (a movie made a decade later), with this grotesque skull-face.
