This new HELLBOY movie has as much in common with PAN'S LABYRINTH as it does the first movie, introducing an entire realm of supernatural creatures that live amongst us but are blocked from the human eye.
We see a much younger HELLBOY in 1955, with his father reading him a story about the Elve's Golden Army, a tale which comes into play when an Elf seeks to resurrect this army and destroy mankind. The relationship between Hellboy and Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) as grown and matured as much as it can and Abraham Sapien gets a love-interest in the form of an elf princess . A new character, Johan Kraus, is also introduced and he's very cool, not what you would expectd. And there's a cameo by Jimmy Kimmel.
Of course, the effects are great and it's an entertaining story. I liked it as much as the first movie, which is to say that I recommend it.
