I found to the first two "Hostel" films to be severely over-hyped teeny-"shock" horse shit from a self-worshiping Hollywood hack director. Of course, the marketing behind the first one was incredibly misleading, almost to the point of GENIUS. I bought into it hook-line-and-sinker back in the day and experienced the crushing disappointment that I know a lot of desperate horror fans felt around that time. "Part 2" was more of the same, though I barely remember seeing it. I only slightly recall the blood-bathing scene. So now I happened to have checked out "Part 3" - mainly on a goof - and I must say, it reaches new levels of suckiness.
A group of buddies drive out to Vegas for a bachelor party and fall prey to the black market auction of torture...
Yes. It takes place in Las Vegas as opposed to Europe. Those tortured are displayed in front of a small audience of rich assholes who place bets on how long it will take the victim to die using a computerized "Wheel of Misfortune". The scenes of torture are tamed WAY down for this one, which was one major drawback. One broad gets a tub of roaches dumped on her and the CGI insects crawl down her throat, killing her. Dumb. Another dude gets his face cut off and there's a crippled guy who's used as target practice for a chick with a crossbow. It's all unimaginative and standard formula for this type of 'torture porn' crap. The "Hostel" fan base may get a kick out of this one for whatever reason, but it's definitely a step back, even for this shitty franchise.
