This is one of the newer horror films that I was actually looking forward to seeing. I thought it might fall in the realm of a remake because of the name, but it was not a remake at all. If anything, it was a throwback to slasher films of the past. At the beginning of the movie, I was thinking to myself... oh no... here we go again with the college kids lost in a strange place and getting killed theme, lame-o flick. I'll admit that theme is a little overused, but it is one that works. Any excuse to get the kids half naked and in a place where they don't belong... especially if it involves Elisha Cuthbert in something skimpy. At least most of these characters were interesting... except of course for Paris Hilton. The road kill pit has more charisma than she does. At least she died in a cool and gruesome scene... so there is a use for her after all. I was hoping to see her as a wax figurine so I could see if I could see any difference in her performance... but I was not so lucky. Neither was this group of wayward kids who found their way to some pretty bloody deaths. A few of them were even immortalized in wax. This was a very well done movie almost all the way around. The story was interesting, the kills were brutal... and the killers were cunning. I really enjoyed this and you should as well. Get it... you will be waxing nostalgic of the old days of horror.
