This is a half-hour British comedy about the adventures of Her Majesty's Ship Camden Lock in the year 2151. In command is the short, squat Commander Henderson (Nick Frost) who thinks he's captain Kirk. There's his crazy chief of security, York (Kevin Eldon), who likes to kill and torture people, and then there's Teal (Miranda Hart), this really large woman. All the aliens refer to her as the "giant female". There's also Jeffers, a hippie navigator, Vine and Sandstrom, who is the ship's pilot/cybernetic human.
Six episodes, utterly hilarious, and most (well, all) of the problems they run into are their own fault. After Henderson insults the repulsive Glish they leave behind a voracious alien, which the crew has to destroy. Then there's the Queppu, who wear these hats the same size as their egos.
HYPERDRIVE reminds me of the 70's TV series QUARK, though it's done much better realized here. The first season ends with them going on their own.
