This is one of those non-linear movies, such as JACOBS LADDER, in which the main character (Ryan Phillipe) bounces around from past to present and from one possible reality to another. A guy awakens in a hospital bed and discovers he can't remember the past two years of his life. His wife (Piper Perabo) comes to visit him but she's a stranger. She's also a nasty woman and is convinced that he's faking his amnesia. His mistress (Sarah Poley of DAWN OF THE DEAD), on the other hand, truly loves him. Around this time he finds him back to the year 2000, two years before, where he was also admitted to the same hospital for an accident. It's revealed that in this particular accident his brother had died. Later, we find out that he may have actually killed his sibling, though it's not explained until the end what actually happened. The only problem I had with this movie is that I knew the ending about ten minutes into watching it (as I did with JACOBS LADDER and ANGEL HEART). Nevertheless, it's a weird and well done subtle horror movie.
