I can't really call this Jap film a straight up horror film, but it does pack some gruesome, gory moments and fun! It's kind of a mixed bag of gangster film and superhero crap. Although, the wanna be superhero here actually is responsible for most of the killings and blood. This crazy looking scarred up Jap gangster is looking for his boss's killer. Ichi is a disturbed goofball who seems to think he's some kinda hero. Ichi has made the boss pay the cost. All this I gathered from the hilarious German dub job. Yeah, I witnessed a Japanese film, dubbed in English by Germans. Go figure? Basically, the good part of Ichi is that several people die a blood-spraying, nasty looking death. Ichi has these bladed boots he uses to administer one hell of a jugular slicing karate kick. In the great samurai tradition, you'll see some really cool sprays in this flick. One poor asshole gets split right down the middle. It's cheesy and digital looking, but still kinda cool. Really, the most hardcore scene is when the gangster freak tortures a rival by hanging his ass from a bunch of steel hooks under the skin of his back and pouring boiling oil on him. OUCH! Interested?
