A strange, carved stone structure becomes unearthed because of an earthquake--and it's inhabited by humanoids who have existed from the ice-age. The leader is the evil white haired Dragon Mom and her minions are mutants, which include everything from robot-like creatures to plant men and skeleton warriors. Her true form is this flying reptile that looks like a Mahar from AT THE EARTH'S CORE.
Rayma works for an organization that protects the earth--and Professor Chang who works there explain they only way to defeat these creatures is with a new weapon he developed. But this involves a very painful surgery that would meld the human subject with cybernetics. Of course, Rayma volunteers--and, through some quick surgery, becomes the bug-eyed Inframan and begins to fight the monsters. In one scene he even grows to giant size to fight a big monster. Of course, the Professor's daughter is kidnapped and Inframan must not only save her--but the world from mutant domination.
This is a weird amalgamation of THE SIX-MILLION DOLLAR MAN and a saturday morning Kroft show, only with some nasty people on fire sequences to give it a little edge. If you're a fan of ULTRAMAN, SPECTRE MAN and the 60's an 70's GODZILLA films you'll dig this. INFRAMAN is one of my favorite movies from the 70's.
