Al Pacino portrays a renowned LA Detective who is helping to find the killer of a young woman in Alaska. On a fog enshrouded day they almost catch the murderer and he accidently shoots and kills his partner. He has mixed feelings about this because he's both upset and relieved. His partner was going to make a deal with Internal Affairs and drag Pacino down with him. As days go on-the detective is unable to fall asleep because of the constant daylight of Alaska. And there's also his guilt. You see, he covered up the fact that he shot his partner, making it look as if the girl's murderer had done it. But the killer saw him shoot his partner and uses this against him, saying let him go or he'll tell the truth. Robin Williams is good as the murderer with a temper as is Hillary Swank, who is the Alaskan policewoman assigned to the case. A better than average serial-killer movie, something to watch when you can't sleep.
