This movie is like an S.E. Hinton novel (THE OUTSIDERS, THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW) meets THE SIXTH SENSE. At first the story seems to be about Nick Powell, a poor little rich kid who has issues with his controlling mother. He gets blamed for calling the police on juvenile delinquent Annie and she ends up beating him up with a few of her friends and leaving him for dead. He has an out of body experience, sort of like a ghost, and has to tell someone that he's not quite dead yet. Ironically, it comes to Annie, the one who put him there to begin with.
This movie is not as bad as you think it will be but the whole supernatural aspect seems forced and not necessary to the rest of the story. And it's a weird movie for director David Goyer (BLADE III) to follow-up with. I guess they chose not to advertise it as "From the director of BLADE III comes a story of deadly teenaged angst".
