The latest adaptation of a Marvel Superhero on Netflix is mixed. On one hand it's cool that they are crossing over characters from other series, such as DAREDEVIL'S and LUKE CAGE'S Claire (Rosario Dawson), and even featuring a villain from Daredevil, The Hand. And at first you like the character of Danny Rand (Finn Jones), a fish out of water. He's spent the last fifteen years, after a plane crash in the Himalayas, in the mystical city of Kun Lun, which wavers back and forth between different dimensions. There, he trained to be the guardian of that ancient city, "The Iron Fist" and his primary job is to protect it from The Hand. Along the way he gets a few allies, most notably Colleen Wing and Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup), who was a childhood friend. The most interesting characters are Ward Meachum and his returned-from-the-dead father, Harold Meachum, who make great bad guys.
However, as the series progresses he becomes less and less heroic and really accomplishes nothing, which is strange. He's likable but he's not a hero. I enjoyed the other Marvel series much more. However, I think this will make it extremely interesting when IRON FIST is teamed up with JESSICA JONES, DAREDEVIL and LUKE CAGE in Netflix's THE DEFENDERS in August of 2017. Half-heartedly recommended.
