When a televison series or movie begins with comic-book stylizations it telegraphs that it's not going to take the source material all that seriously, treating it as "camp" or "kitsch". So when the pilot began this way, I thought, "oh no". After all, I loved the comic book series. Here, however, it's basically a more sedate version of TRUE CALLING. A young woman was bitten by a zombie, became infected but kept her intelligence because she secretly eats brains. How does she get the brains? She works in the autopsy department of a hospital. Duh.
There are some irritating supporting characters, such as her mother, who is worried about her "Goth" phase (she is now pale and has white hair) and her overenthusiastic co-worker who thinks it's great she's a zombie.
For me, I passed on watching this after this pilot.
