I found this to be a very entertaining version of the familiar Jeckyll & Hyde story.
A mild-mannered scientist (Matt Keeslar of MIDDLEMAN), searching for a cure for cancer, creates a virtual-reality alter-ego of himself. When he downloads this into himself it takes over--and starts to do some very bad things. It reminded me of the very similar theme explored in CROWLEY. Jeckyll is engaged to be married but his soon-to-be father-in-law wants him to give up his silly research and do more practical work, which he resents. In fact, he resents it so much he kills the man and his wife when he's Hyde. Hyde, who pretty much looks like Jeckyll except for the white eyes and mutton-chop sideburns, hooks up with an African-American stripper. She starts having feelings for him though he's abusive. Jeckyll gives her money and tells her to get out of town before she ends up getting killed.
Of course, the transitions from Jeckyll to Hyde get out of control and ends in a fatal way.
What makes this movie work is Keeslar's performance--he's one of those actors who can flip back and forth effortlessly between "the good guy" and "the bad guy".
