This is perhaps the strangest version of the story I've seen, which basically turns the Robert Louis Stevenson tale into a superhero story!Adam Baldwin (FIREFLY) is a doctor who looks forward to leaving the Emergency room and going into the lucrative cosmetic surgery business. He gets married and decides to go to Hong Kong for his honeymoon. But while visiting a nearby hospital a gunshot victim comes in-and the leader of the Chinese Mafia tells him that if he doesn't save his friend that he will kill him. So, at gunpoint, Baldwin has to perform surgery and try to save the man's life. He dies-and the mafia guys go after him.He escapes but they figure out where he is staying. He wakes up on a ship to find one of his kidney's surgically removed (they have an organ harvesting business on the side)-and that they have his wife hostage as well. They show him that she's tied to a buoy floating out in the bay and allow him to jump in and save her. But as soon as he gets there and removes her gag-a bomb explodes. She's killed and he's picked up by a doctor of ancient Chinese medicine.Through this Chinese Medicine he miraculously recovers from all of his horrendous burns. And as soon as he's well enough he tries to track down the guys responsible for his wife's death. He mixes up a bunch of different herbs and roots to give him extra strength-and after he drinks it his eyes change and he has become something other than a man.It turns out that he's actually 'The Tiger', a character in Chinese folkore that protects the people. According to the legend the Tiger goes to defeat the Dragon, who is the head of the Mafia. The movie has an open-ending, which makes it seem as if this was a pilot for a proposed television series. It just didn't work.
